Let’s ban elephant acts in Dane County.

TUCSON, AZ—Cheers, laughter, and applause filled the big top tent at the Ringling Bros. Circus Saturday as children of all ages were captivated by the savage enslavement of Topsy the elephant.

Whether young or just young at heart, thrilled audience members watched with glee as a circus trainer forced the frightened Topsy to perform tricks by brutally poking and prodding the traumatized 4-year-old pachyderm.

  1. I am so glad they didn’t show her face, I don’t think I could have looked at it. These children’s parents should be ashamed for taking their children to a circus that has acts such as this one.

  2. It is so sad. I lived in Tucson for 5 years. I picketed before and after the shows and the adults coming out with their children saw the elephants were sad and the tigers were scared. Barak the baby elephant was sick with Herpes and he was still performing. It is sad how Ringling gets away with the abuse of the elephants everyday before and after the shows. I hope to GOd, some day this abuse and disrespect of these great animals will end. It would be great if these humans ended up in cages, being beaten, shocked and whipped like they do to these poor creatures their whole life.
