There will be no new rules regarding dogs — pit bulls or others —in the city of Fond du Lac.
A proposal that would have placed restrictions on animals perceived as dangerous, including pit bulls, is off the table after drawing considerable opposition from an overflow crowd.
Thunderous applause and cheers resounded through the Fond du Lac City Council chambers Wednesday night when Councilman Rob Vande Zande said he had heard enough.
“The breed specific ordinance is off the table, and it will not be discussed,” Vande Zande said after more than 30 people spoke against his plan and 116 others were on the record as being opposed.
