Read Rick Marolt’s recent piece which focuses on the discussion of allowing trapping in Dane County parks.

A debate about trapping in Dane County parks is active. Few people trap, and many people oppose trapping in county parks for various reasons, including the safety of children and pets and the suffering of non-human animals. But the state requires that trapping be permitted on land bought by the county with money from the state’s Stewardship Fund.

  1. I concur, and will only add that we the people (or our elected representatives) do regularly allow/accept the torture and killing of humans for economic reasons. We call it “war,” and many of us feel that it, too, is unnecessary and there are better options. But, as you state, they can only be achieved if one rejects the win/lose mindset and opens up to win-win-win alternatives.
