Linda Wolfe: Trapping on public land poor wildlife management technique

Dear Editor: In Shawn Doherty’s article “Trapping program proposed on county park lands,” the proponents of opening public land to trapping seemed to suggest that trapping is safe, humane and necessary. However, years of research and a recent undercover investigation by Born Free USA show that there have been no significant advances in reducing the number of nontarget captures, nor can traps be considered “humane” by any stretch of the imagination.
